Gitano Tulum

The original Gitano Jungle Tulum opened on December 20, 2013, on the jungle side of Beach Road. The open-air venue combines a modern Mexican dining room, mezcal bar, lounge and dance floor. Candlelit wooden decks sit among thick palm foliage. A pink neon sign and a giant suspended disco ball mark the venue's visual identity.

Dinner starts on the decks before the focus moves toward the Jungle Room. This indoor-outdoor space hosts DJs, cabaret-style performances and dancing. The venue is LGBTQIA+ welcoming and draws an international, event-led crowd, including birthday groups and bachelorette parties. It is a strong choice for diners who want dinner, cocktails and music in one place, because the same room shifts from seated service to a late-night party.

Modern Mexican Plates Made for Sharing

The kitchen uses seasonal local ingredients, open fire and wood grills to produce modern Mexican dishes for the table. Snacks and small plates include tostadas with salsas for 200 MXN, guacamole for 420 MXN and truffle and mushroom sopes for 580 MXN. Seafood options include shrimp aguachile for 450 MXN, Baja California hamachi tostada for 520 MXN and octopus zarandeado for 750 MXN. A lobster tostada costs 820 MXN.

More Than 50 Mezcals and Seasonal Cocktails

The bar holds more than 50 mezcals and makes cocktails with locally grown seasonal fruit and herbs. Jungle Fever and Gypsy Disco 75 are two signature drinks. The bottle selection includes Nabuco prosecco for 3,740 MXN, Moët Rosé Champagne for 9,350 MXN and Dom Pérignon for 19,550 MXN. The drinks programme runs alongside dinner before the room shifts toward music and dancing.

Dietary labels identify gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian and dairy-free dishes. Guests should tell their waiter about food allergies or other restrictions before ordering. The range covers meat, seafood and vegetable dishes, but individual preparation requirements should be discussed with the team. Sharing plates allow a group to order across several parts of the menu.

Friday Gypsy Disco in the Jungle Room

Gypsy Disco is the weekly Friday residency, pairing dinner with DJs and late-night dancing. Sets move through deep house, nu-disco, indie dance, Latin rhythms and melodic house. Cabaret-style performances also form part of the programme on selected nights. The suspended disco ball becomes the centre of the Jungle Room as the evening moves away from seated dining.

Friday changes the pace of the evening more than any other regular night. Dinner service begins at 6 PM before music and dancing take over later in the evening. The current Friday schedule extends until 3 AM, while the venue closes at 1 AM on the other six nights. Advance reservations are recommended for Fridays and special editions because these nights attract the largest event-focused crowds.

Plan Dinner and Reserve for Friday Night

The restaurant is on the jungle side of Tulum's Beach Road in the Hotel Zone. It opens daily at 6 PM. Closing time is 1 AM from Saturday through Thursday and 3 AM on Friday. Arrive during dinner service for a seated meal, or come later if music and dancing are the priority.

Reservations are available and are especially useful for Friday Gypsy Disco and special events. Groups celebrating a birthday can choose a chocolate cake or a tequila, lime and almond cake, with options for sparklers, bubbles and a short personalised message. Cake and sparklers cost 1,360 MXN, while celebration packages start at 3,740 MXN. Reserve Gitano Tulum through this venue page on Tulum Bible.
